Changing the Batteries

If you have a battery-powered Serena Shade, replacing the batteries is a breeze. First, press the battery release tabs located above the shade headrail. The headrail will tilt forward, exposing the battery trays. Next, remove all of the batteries from each side of the tray, beginning with the battery that’s closest to the middle of the headrail.

After you’ve taken that battery out, slide the next battery over and remove it. Now you can insert the new batteries. For best battery life, don’t mix old and new batteries, use only alkaline batteries, and don’t mix battery types or use carbon-zinc batteries. We also don’t recommend using rechargeable batteries. Make sure you place the batteries in the trays in the correct orientation, per the tray label guidelines. Also make sure the batteries are fully inserted in the trays.

Once all the batteries are in place the LED indicator light will flash briefly. Then you can push the shade headrail back into place - and you’re done! You don’t even need to reset your programmed raise and lower limits, as they’ve been retained by the shade’s electronics.

If you have any questions regarding changing the batteries in your Serena Shades please call Serena support at 1.888.445.8063. Our support staff is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
